George C Schoenly – found!

The other day I posted that I had come across an unattached Schoenly floating around out there without any idea how he fit into the family. Well, I found it.

The problem was that I had George C. listed as both a ‘Schoenly’ and “Schonly”. I also found him in the 1860 US Census as “Shoenly”. The spelling differences used by individuals over the course of their lives sometimes makes it a challenge.

Turns out that George C. Schoenly was the son of Jacob Schweinhardt Schonly. Jacob was the oldest son of the immigrant’s (Friederich) son Andreas. So the mystery has been solved and we can all sleep better tonight.
